How to give yourself a DIY facial!

Updated: Nov 19, 2020

Whilst you are unable to visit my spa or any other for a facial this month, it doesn't mean you shouldn't continue to care for yourself. The best way to do this, I feel, is a relaxing facial pamper!

Here is my little routine I have put together especially for you, using my new Organic Botanicals range ( You can use your own skincare products if you wish). I have also added in a few TOP TIPS!!

STEP 1: Cleanse. Start with a double cleanse. Use an oil-based cleanser for this to melt away make-up and remove dead skin cells. I use my beautiful Botanicals Cleansing Melt, packed with essential oils.

TOP TIP: Massage in for 2 mins, then take a hot cloth or flannel (wrung out in hot water) and apply over face, hold for a few moments, and then gently wipe away - heaven! Then repeat the cleanse again.

STEP 2: Exfoliate. It's time to slough off those dead dull skin cells to reveal a fresher, brighter skin. I use the Botanicals Gentle Face Polish. Gently massage into the skin for 3 mins, concentrating on areas of dryness and congestion. Take the hot cloth of flannel to wipe off, then give your skin a final rinse.

STEP 3: Steam. Fill a bowl with hot water and hold your face over with a towel draped over your head to keep in the steam for 5-10 mins.

TOP TIP: Add a couple drops of Lavender essential oil and breathe slowly, and relax.

STEP 4: Mask. This is an essential part of the routine to really deeply cleanse and hydrate the skin, to leave it looking super smooth and glowing. I use the Botanicals Detox Mask packed with Mediterranean Green Clay to deep cleanse and Mandarin essential oil to brighten. Wipe away the mask after 10-15 mins with the hot cloth.

TOP TIP: The perfect way to enjoy this step is to have a lovely hot soak in the bath, or alternatively, have a lie down for 10-15 mins.

STEP 5: Massage and moisturise. It's a great idea to give your face a 5-minute massage to boost circulation and lymphatic drainage. Using a lightweight facial oil (I use the Botanicals Pro Balance Serum), use gentle upward strokes, starting from the chin to aid lymphatic drainage.

To finish off, apply a water based moisturiser to keep all the hydration locked in. Gently pat around the eyes to aid sluggish circulation which can lead to dark circles and puffiness.

So, there you have it! I really hope you enjoy following these 5 steps.

If you would like to try the Organic Botanicals range for yourself, please message me on Facebook, or email me. I have some fantastic 'facial in a box' sets which contain all of the products that I have mentioned in this routine. I also have some great 'try me' kits which are a lovely introduction to the range and also make terrific Xmas presents or stocking fillers!
