How to...do a pedicure in 8 easy steps!

So, after a request from one of my clients, I have put together this step-by-step routine for you to do, to take care of your feet whilst on lockdown. 🥰

I use all of the Organic Botanicals Foot products for my spa pedicures which contain Wild mint and Tea tree. They feel and smell amazing, but you can use whatever you have to hand at home. Please let me know if you would like to try any of the Organic foot products, and I can get some sent out to you.

HOW TO DO A PEDICURE AT HOME IN 8 EASY STEPS!

Here's what you need:

A deep bowl or foot spa, nail polish remover, nail clippers, emery board, foot file, orangewood stick, some Epsom or Dead sea salts, foot/body scrub, foot balm/cream, cuticle oil/olive oil, fluffy towel. Also, base coat, colour coat and top coat if you want to apply polish.

Step 1: Prep nails by removing old nail polish.

Step 2: Soak your feet for 10 mins. Fill a bowl, or foot spa if you have one, with very warm {not too hot} water. Put in a generous handful of Epsom or Dead sea salts. This will really soften hard skin and relieve achy feet. Why not enjoy this moment by relaxing with a nice cuppa!

Step 3: Exfoliate feet with a scrub. Take a handful of your favourite body scrub or foot scrub and massage into feet, then rinse and dry feet with a fluffy towel.

Step 4: Removing hard skin. Grab your foot file/rasp and go over hard skin on heels and balls of feet.

Step 5: Trim and shape toenails. Now that your nails have had time to soften, it's time to trim with the clippers. Using clippers rather than nail scissors gives a much better result, because we want to trim the nails straight across rather than rounded to avoid ingrowing toenails! Now shape the nails with the emery board and gently soften the corners so they are not sharp.

Step 6: Condition the nail and cuticles. Apply a cuticle oil or another nourishing oil to the nails and give them a really good massage. Now take an orange stick or cuticle pusher and gently ease back the cuticles, working in little circles along the cuticle. Please do not attempt to trim the cuticle because it can bleed very easily...leave this job to me!!

Step 7: Foot massage. Take a generous amount of foot balm/cream and give yourself a lovely foot massage, really working into the soles and heels using your thumbs.

Step 8: Apply your polish. I would normally advise clients to leave off polish in the winter months to allow your nails to recover, but if you would like to, wipe over nails first with nail polish remover, then apply base coat, then colour coat, and finally the top coat to seal it.

And there you have it, the perfect way to get your feet in tip top condition! Please let me know how you get on, and keep the suggestions coming in! xxx
